Kentucky is currently sitting in a tie for sixth place in the league with nine points; however the difference between third place in the standings and ninth place is a matter of six points (teams earn three points for a win, one for a tie.)

UK has played one of the hardest SEC schedules so far this season, having started with four SEC games on the road and five games against teams in the top 80 of the NCAA RPI.

The challenge increases Friday with Tennessee. The Lady Vols are off to a 4-2 start in SEC play, including wins over No. 11 Florida and Arkansas. Tennessee is coming off of a weekend which saw them sweep Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Kentucky, ranked No. 14 in the NCAA RPI released Wednesday, is coming off a dramatic 2-1 come-from-behind win over Arkansas on Friday and a tough 2-0 defeat to No. 25 LSU.

Kelsey Hunyadicontinues to set a blistering offensive pace so far for Kentucky this season, already charting 23 points, consisting of eight goals and seven assists. The UK senior captain is ranked in the top seven in all nine offensive categories kept by the SEC.

Tennessee leads the all-time series with Kentucky 8-11-0, with the 2010 result being a 1-0 Kentucky victory in Knoxville. The two border states have split the last six seasons, with each side recording three wins and three losses in that span. Kentucky looks to snap Tennessee’s five-game winning streak in Lexington, as the Cats have not beaten Tennessee at home since 1999.

Matches between the Wildcats and Lady Vols have been extremely tight throughout the series history. Each of the last four years, the margin of victory for the rivalry game has been just one goal, including one overtime match in 2007.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET at the UK Soccer Complex. Live stats and a video stream of this match will be available at UKAthletics.com.
