LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two University of Kentucky football players, including junior defensive back Martavius Neloms and senior punter Ryan Tydlacka, have been named honorable mention players of the week by the College Football Performance Awards for their impressive performance in Kentucky’s 38-14 win against Jacksonville State on Saturday.

Neloms was named Honorable Mention Defensive Back of the Week as he scored his first collegiate touchdown when he sacked the JSU quarterback, causing a fumble, which he scooped up and returned 40 yards for a touchdown. The native of Memphis, Tenn., ended the game with eight tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, one fumble forced, on fumble recovered and a pass breakup. Neloms is third on the team in tackles this season with 49, while he has four pass breakups. Neloms is ranked 14th in the Southeastern Conference in tackles.

Tydlacka was named Honorable Mention Punter of the Week after he punted five times against JSU for an averaging of 45 yards per punt. The senior launched a 55-yard punt in the game and had two punts within the 20-yard line. The native of Louisville, Ky., has been fantastic for UK this season, ranking fifth in the conference and 20th in the nation in putting this season with an average of 44.0. As a team, Kentucky ranks second in the SEC and seventh in the nation in net punting at 41.04 net yards per punt.

Kentucky returns to action on Saturday when the Wildcats play host to Mississippi State at 7 p.m. ET at Commonwealth Stadium. The game will be telecast live on Fox Sports South.
