LEXINGTON, KY – The UK men’s basketball team checks in at No. 2 in the newly released Associated Press preseason Top 25.

It marks the second time in the John Calipari Era that Kentucky ranks in the top 10 in the AP’s preseason poll. The Cats checked in at fourth in Calipari’s inaugural year.

It also marks the highest preseason ranking in the poll for the Cats since the 1995-96 team was tabbed No. 1 entering the season.

Kentucky has been ranked in the AP’s top five in the preseason 22 times and in the top three 14 times before.

The Wildcats will be in action on Wed., Nov. 2 when they open their preseason exhibition schedule against in-town rival Transylvania. Tickets for that game, as well the Morehouse and Marist games are still available.
