LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team wrapped up fall tournament play today and ended on a strong note. Collectively, the team ended with seven victories in doubles and singles play combined in the College of Charleston Halloween Invitational.

UK’s standout performance of the day came from freshman Stephanie Fox, who earned the champion title for her singles flight. She had a tough road to the end, as she found herself in a tie with Sandra Herrera of Winthrop at the end of play. A head-to-head tiebreaker was required to settle the score, which Fox won, 2-1 to take home the title.

Fox also found success in doubles play when she partnered up with sophomore Misha Testerman. The pair came ready to play in their match against Grace Baker and Olivia McMillan of C of C. The Wildcats strong play led them to an 8-4 victory.

Testerman’s success with Fox transferred over to her singles match. She glided through her match against Camille Amrani of Winthrop to have the widest spread in score that a UK player has achieved this fall. She not only won the match in straight sets, but didn’t allow Amrani a single point, to end the match with a, 6-0, 6-0, result.

Sophomores Caitlin McGraw and CeCe Witten brought home wins in singles play also, but their means for getting there were polar opposite to Testerman’s. Both of their matches required a third set as the two refused to lose against tough opponents. Witten competed against Baker of C of C and won, 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 and McGraw took on Andressa Garcia of Winthrop and ended the match with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, score.

Freshman Edmee Morin also ended the tournament on a high note, defeating Giovanna Portioli of Winthrop, 6-4, 6-3.

With the end of this tournament, the Wildcats conclude fall play. They will not play again until January, when they will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Hawaii Invitational on Jan. 12.
