MURRAY, Ky. – After breaking its own NCAA record from the 2010-11 national championships with a 4711 team score in a win over Memphis on Sunday, the Kentucky rifle team has advanced to No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association rankings, it was announced.

Kentucky (3-0, 3-0 Great American Rifle Conference) posted a 4711 total score on Sunday vs. Memphis, with the Wildcats breaking its own NCAA record 4700 team score from the NCAA Championships last year.

The Wildcats were led in the Memphis match from school-record performances from Emily Holsopple, who fired a 597 in air rifle, eclipsing Henri Junghanel’s school-record 596 from 2010-11. Junghanel set the school record with a 589 in smallbore to lead the team, while Stacy Wheatley fired a personal best 596 in air rifle.

Last year, UK won the first NCAA Championship in program history, riding strong outings from Junghanel, Heather Greathouse and Ethan Settlemires for the win. Settlemires won the 2010-11 NCAA Championship in smallbore, the first individual national champion in program history.

UK returns to action with a pair of matches on Nov. 12 in Columbus, Ohio, hosted by Ohio State. UK will face OSU and Murray State.
