LEXINGTON, KY – UK men’s basketball senior Darius Miller has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2011-12 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.
Miller was named the 2011 SEC Tournament MVP and is the lone four-year senior on the squad this year. Averaging 10.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season, Miller is on pace to become the 58th player in school history to reach the 1,000 point milestone.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Lowe’s, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the men’s Senior CLASS Award® winner during the 2012 NCAA Men’s Final Four®, which will be held March 31 and April 2 in New Orleans.
