LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coach Joker Phillips and safety/linebacker Winston Guy have been honored for their efforts in Kentucky’s 10-7 win over Tennessee on Saturday.
Phillips was one of five who received an “SEC Helmet Sticker” from Chris Low, Southeastern Conference beat writer for ESPN.com.
Low wrote, “ … the Wildcats managed to do something Saturday they hadn’t done since Phillips was a senior receiver at Kentucky in 1984. They beat Tennessee after 26 straight defeats to the Vols. Not only that, but the Wildcats did it with a senior receiver, Matt Roark, filling in at quarterback and attempting just six passes. Roark rushed for 124 yards.”
Guy was Honorable-Mention Defensive Back of the Week from the College Football Performance Awards. Guy totaled a season-high 14 tackles, including two tackles for loss, and shared a quarterback sack on the final possession of the game that clinched the victory for the Wildcats.
