LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky swimming and diving teams will host their final meet of the 2011-12 season against the University of Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday afternoon at 10:00 a.m. ET at the Lancaster Aquatic Center. The meet will not only serve as one of the Wildcats final tune-ups for the Southeastern Conference Championships next month, but also senior day, honoring eight swimmers who will swim for the final time at home.

“Senior Day is always a special day,” 21st-year head coach Gary Conelly said. “We are saying goodbye to some outstanding Wildcats. All of these seniors have had a tremendous impact on the team and will be sorely missed in the days to come.  We are hoping to celebrate their final home meet with some great performances.”

Included in the 2012 class for the Wildcats are seniors Claire Archibald, Lindsay Lash, Anna Mattox, Chelsea Peterson, Tyler Reed, Ben Russell, Matt Russell and Jenna Willis.

The Wildcats are coming off a dual-meet sweep of Emory University in Atlanta back on Jan. 15, while the UC Bearcats are coming off a very respectful performance at the Oakland Quad Meet last weekend.

“We are rapidly approaching our championships and I think we will see  some very fast in season times as the competition for spots on our SEC team is heating up.  So expect to see something special through the water and in the air tomorrow.” Conelly said.

Senior day festivities will kickoff at 9:45 a.m. ET with introductions of all nine seniors for the Wildcats on the pool deck.
