LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s basketball freshman guard Bria Goss has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced Monday. Goss’ four freshman honors are the most in the league.

Goss helped guide Kentucky to three victories in the last week, as the Wildcats won their first SEC Championship since 1982, and their second all-time. The Indianapolis native averaged 11.3 points per game during the three-game stretch, reaching double figures in scoring against Vanderbilt and South Carolina with 12 points and 14 points, respectively. Goss got to the line well throughout the week, converting 12 of her 14 attempts (.857), including a perfect 6-6 clip at Mississippi State on Sunday.

On the season, Goss’ 21 double-figure scoring games rank fourth all-time among UK freshmen, and her 11.6 points per game scoring average is on pace to be the sixth highest in school history by a freshman. Her 31 made 3-point field goals are tied for the fifth most ever by a Kentucky rookie. Goss leads all freshmen in scoring in the SEC.

The Wildcats will play again March 2 in the second round of the SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. Kentucky holds the No. 1 seed in the tournament and earned a first round bye for the third consecutive season. The Wildcats will face the winner of the Florida vs. Auburn game on Friday at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be televised by SportSouth.
