LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky baseball team has announced its annual coaching clinic for March 10 at Cliff Hagan Stadium, set for 8-10 a.m. ET before UK’s Saturday contest with Canisius.
The coaching clinic will consist of the UK coaching staff and several UK players going through a variety of drills and skills designed to help improve the skill sets of youth baseball players. Coaches will be given a coupon for free admission to the Saturday tilt with the Golden Griffins.
“We always look forward to our youth coaches clinic as a chance to talk baseball and share with those who are teaching the next generation,” UK assistant athletics director of marketing Nathan Schwake said. “Lexington and Central Kentucky are such a hot bed for youth baseball that it is fantastic to see the success our leagues have locally, regionally and nationally. We’re committed to helping maintain the success that our local leagues have been able to achieve and the coaches clinic is one of our favorite ways of getting together with youth baseball coaches.”
The event will feature detailed breakdowns of several aspects of the game, with UK’s coaching staff discussing their area of expertise, including catching coordinator Keith Vorhoff, infield coach and offensive coordinator Brian Green and recruiting and outfield coach Brad Bohannon. In addition, UK head coach Gary Henderson – one of the top pitching minds in college baseball – will discuss pitching.
Please RSVP to Spencer Bridges (spencerbridges@uky.edu) in the UK Athletics Marketing Office (859.257.8022) no later than March 9 in planning on attending.
Coaches will be treated to free doughnuts and beverages and are encouraged to bring paper and a writing utensil, with video cameras permitted during the clinic.
Kentucky (13-0) is off to the fourth-best start to a season in program history, owning the NCAA’s best record and the longest winning streak in the nation. UK hosts Canisius on Friday at 4 p.m. ET, and Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
