LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sophomore diver Greg Ferrucci posted a score of 743.50 in the one-meter diving competition Friday afternoon in Bloomington, Ind., to become the third member of the UK swimming and diving team to qualify for the NCAA Championships later this month.
“It was a tremendous job by Greg today,” UK head diving coach Ted Hautau said. “His fourth-place finish yesterday was not a guarantee to make the NCAA Championships and he came out today and just competed tough. That was the best back-to-back performance he has had this year.”
The 2012 four-time Southeastern Conference Diver of the Week joins Tyler Reed and Lucas Gerotto as the three UK swimmers and divers who qualified for the 2012 NCAA Championships.
Also in action for UK was Corey Cowger on the one-meter springboard, who finished 597.35 in the competition. That tally placed Cowger 16th overall in the three-meter.
Christa Cabot had a good meet on the women’s side for UK, posting a score of 573.40 which was good enough for a 16th-place finish in the competition.
