LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky football seniors Larry Warford and La’Rod King have begun their senior seasons with a significant honor from the coaches of the Southeastern Conference after both were named to the 2012 Preseason Coaches’ All-SEC Team, the league office announced Thursday.

Warford, from Richmond, Ky., was named as a first-team offensive lineman, while King, (Radcliff, Ky.), was selected as a second-team wide receiver. This is the second first-team preseason selection for Warford, who was also named to the first-team last season. This is the first preseason selection for King.

Warford had an outstanding season in 2011, earning postseason All-SEC second-team honors by SEC coaches, Associated Press and Phil Steele’s College Footbal/. The 6-foot-3, 343-pound offensive guard has led Kentucky in knockdown blocks each of the last two seasons, including 34 last season. Warford, who graded at 87.5 percent last year by the UK coaching staff, has played in 35 career games for Kentucky, including 25 consecutive starts. Prior to 2011, Warford was named Sophomore All-America second team by CollegeFootballNews.com in 2010, while also earning All-SEC second-team honors by SEC coaches, AP, Rivals.com and Phil Steele’s College Football.

King continued to show playmaking ability last season and will anchor UK’s wide receiver corps in 2012. King’s career totals include 86 receptions for 1,218 yards and 13 touchdowns. King led UK in 2011, making 40 catches for 598 yards and seven touchdowns, ranking him in the top 10 in the SEC in each category. The 6-foot-4 wide out had a pair of 100-yard games last season against Ole Miss and Central Michigan, while he made a career-high seven catches against Louisville and a personal-best two touchdowns against Jacksonville State. For his career, King ranks eighth in school history in touchdown receptions and 19th in program history in receiving yards. The Kentucky native has played in 36 career games with 18 starts.
