LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky-Louisville match originally scheduled for Aug. 28, has been moved to Aug. 29 with first serve set for 7 p.m. ET.
The date was shifted due to the KFC Yum! Center’s scheduling availability. The arena will serve as the site of the 2012 NCAA Volleyball Final Four, Dec. 13-15. In addition to the arena’s availability, the match will also now air live in both the Lexington and Louisville markets with the CWKYT broadcasting the match in Lexington.
The two instate squads have provided volleyball fans across the Bluegrass with numerous exciting matches in recent years. Both of the matchups during the 2009 and 2010 seasons needed five sets to determine the outcome with the teams splitting the meetings.
In 2011, Kentucky prevailed in stylish fashion in the form of a sweep in front of a boisterous crowd in Memorial Coliseum. The win marked the first sweep by UK in the series since 1988.
With the match set to air live in the state, Kentucky now has three confirmed television appearances for the 2012 season. More dates are expected from the UK IMG Sports Network to be announced later this month.
UK opens the 2012 season with the Kentucky Classic tournament. Kentucky will take on North Carolina on the opening night of competition Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
