LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former University of Kentucky men’s golf standout, Andy Winings, finished the Price Cutter Charity Championship Presented by Dr Pepper in third, one stroke off first at the Web.com Tour event held at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield, Mo.
A 2009 graduate of UK, Winings led the Wildcats his senior year, recording a 72.72 scoring average while competing in all 12 events. He finished the year with five top-10 finishes, including a second place finish at the Jacksonville University Invitational.
Winings finished the championship at 20-under-par 268 after shooting a 7-under-par 65 in the final round of play. Chris Wilson and Scott Harrington finished in a tie for first at 21-under-par 267 but Wilson took first overall in a playoff. Winings’ 26 birdies throughout the four-round event was a tie for the most on the weekend.
Winings’ third-place finish earned him $42,500, bringing his total Web.com Tour earnings on the year to $49,485.
The Brownsburg, Ind., native will look to continue his strong play at the Midwest Classic Presented by Cadillac Thursday at Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in Overland Park, Kan.
