LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team will begin the 2012 fall campaign Friday morning at the Muirfield Collegiate Tennis Invitational in Muirfield, Ohio.

The three-day event will kick off with doubles play at 10 a.m., before transitioning into singles competition in the afternoon. The Wildcats have four players competing in both singles and doubles, including Cece Witten, Caitlin McGraw, Kirsten Lewis and Stephanie Fox.

As the doubles No. 3 seed, Fox and Witten will compete first for Kentucky, pairing up to go against Hannah Wille and Kelly Poggensee-Wei of Cincinnati at 9 a.m. The duo experienced success in 2011-12 as doubles partners, posting a 5-2 record at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.

McGraw and Lewis, competing in her first collegiate event, team up at 10 a.m. to take on the winner between Kelsey Becker and Noelle Malley of Ohio State and Caitlin O’Gara and Carly Wilson of Cincinnati, a match that will take place at 9 a.m.

Singles play begins on Friday at 11 a.m. with Witten taking on Signe Lazdina of the University of Akron. Witten went 7-2 last season in the No. 5 spot. Lewis and McGraw both take the court at 12:30 p.m., McGraw facing Poggensee-Wei while Lewis goes against Ashleigh Witte of Cincinnati. Fox faces Madison Cohen of Akron at 2 p.m. All times are Eastern.
