LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team wrapped up the Roberta Alison Fall Classic Saturday afternoon with a performance that has UK head coach Carlos Drada excited about his team’s upcoming spring season.

“This weekend was a great assessment for our team,” Drada said. “We were able to win some great matches and were in a position to win four flights today. We know what we need to address and we will work until we accomplish our goals. I expect this season to be our best yet.”

Sophomore Stephanie Fox led Kentucky, winning the Green Draw after defeating Linn Timmermann of Georgia State 6-2, 6-2. Fox won her opening match Friday afternoon 6-2, 6-2 before winning her semifinal match 6-2, 6-1.

Nadia Ravita and Edmee Morin-Kougoucheff both finished second in their respective draws with Revita falling in three sets. Morin-Kougoucheff fell in the championship of the Pink Draw to Nayara Moraes of Middle Tennessee.

The tandem of Kirsten Lewis and Ravita fell short of winning the Teal Draw but won two matches in the process. The duo lost in the championship match 8-5 following an 8-2 win in the first round and an 8-6 semifinal win over Northwestern.

Kentucky will return to action Oct. 18 at the ITA Regionals in Lafayette Ind., before finishing the fall at the Knoxville Hidden Dual Oct. 26.
