CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team completed their first round at the 2012 Tar Heel Invitational with a score of 17-over-par, 305 and sit in 14th position. The field is filled with 18 competitive teams, including 13 schools in the nation’s top-50 according to www.golfstat.com.
    
Junior Liz Breed led the way for the Wildcats, carding a 3-over-par, 75 on the day and is in a tie for 30th. Breed converted on 13 pars and sank a birdie on the par 5 hole No. 17 to highlight her afternoon.

Cylia Damerau posted a score of 4-over-par, 76 and is tied for 41st. The freshman recorded 14 pars on Friday.

Fellow freshmen Sarah Harris and Meghan McDougall both turned in rounds 5-over-par, 77 and are tied for 53rd. Harris had a relatively clean afternoon, posting 14 pars. McDougall on the other hand struggled in the opening nine holes, shooting 6-over before recovery with a 1-under on the final nine that included two birdies. Senior Betsie Johnson is tied for 89th at 10-over.

The second of three rounds will resume on Saturday at 8:51 a.m. ET off holes No. 1 and 10. Johnson will tee off first for the Cats on hole No. 10 at 9:45 a.m. with Harris, McDougall, Damerau and Breed to follow, respectively in nine minute intervals.
