Bushamuka Moves Into Round of 16 of NCAA Singles Tournament

ATHENS, Ga. – Kentucky men’s tennis junior Will Bushamuka advanced to the round of 16 of the NCAA singles tournament with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over No. 23 Gustav Hansson of Ole Miss on Thursday morning in Athens, Georgia.
The Princeton, N.J. native will face either No. 51 Josh Hager of Notre Dame or No. 4 Nuno Borges of Mississippi State tomorrow at a time to be determined. Kentucky faced both the Fighting Irish and the Bulldogs during the spring season. Bushamuka faced Borges once this season, earning a top-10 win at 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).
Bushamuka improved to 16-7 this spring season, earning a team-leading 10th win over a ranked opponent this season. The junior is currently on a four-match win streak after winning both singles matches in the NCAA team tournament and a win yesterday over No. 77 Tuki Jacobs.
Kentucky will be represented in the NCAA Doubles Tournament, as Enzo Wallart and Beck Pennington will face No. 4 seed Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim from Wake Forest at 4:30 p.m. today in a rematch of the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
