2013>> Finished the season 6-11 with all of his 17 singles matches coming on court three … Defeated No. 99 Daniel Whitehead of Texas 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 to help Kentucky clinch a spot in the ITA National Team Indoors … Played eight ranked opponents … Played in a team-high eight three-set matches during the season … Suffered an arm injury against Georgia on March 24, and was not able to return to the lineup for the rest of the season. Went 8-9 in doubles, with 16 of his 17 doubles matches partnering with Ryuji Hirooka on court two … The tandem clinched three doubles points on their court while also knocking off a ranked team, in No. 71 Backstrom/Lindmark from Ole Miss in the regular season upset of the No. 4 Rebels.
Fall 2011>> Was finally healthy for the first time in his collegiate career and he took full advantage, busting onto the scene during the fall with an impressive 20-4 record in singles … Best showing of the season came at the Southern Intercollegiate where he won six consecutive matches to win the division II singles title … During the tournament run, Gomez defeated Austin Powell of North Carolina State and Campbell Johnson of Georgia, both players would eventually be ranked in the top-101 in the nation in singles … Started the year with 11 consecutive singles wins … Advanced to the third round of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Indoor Championships, while winning three of his four matches in the Bulldog Scramble in Athens … Also played well in the SEC Coaches’ Indoor Championships, defeating two ranked players en route to the singles consolation final … Finished the fall ranked 111th in the nation in singles … Earned nine doubles wins during the fall, including a run to the quarterfinals of the SEC Coaches’ Indoors with senior Alex Musialek … Won both his doubles matches at the Rainbow Warrior Challenge, one with Grant Roberts and one with Musialek … Advanced to the round of 16 in both the Southern Intercollegiate and the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Indoor Championships.
