Josh Pruitt enters his 14th season at Kentucky in 2026, including his sixth as the program’s director of operations, a role he assumed in 2020. In his current position, he oversees the day-to-day logistics of the football program, including team travel, scheduling and operational coordination.
Pruitt previously served as Kentucky’s director of player personnel in 2019 and spent the 2018 season as a defensive quality control coach. He began his tenure in Lexington as a graduate assistant after arriving in 2013 from Kilgore College, where he was the assistant head coach. During his time at Kilgore, the team posted an 8-3 record in 2012 and earned a berth in the inaugural Brazos Valley Bowl at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas.
A former collegiate student-athlete, Pruitt played two seasons (2003–04) at Garden City (Kan.) Community College before transferring to Troy. At Troy, he was part of the 2006 Sun Belt Conference championship team and the 2006 New Orleans Bowl championship squad.
Following his playing career, Pruitt began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Troy, helping the Trojans capture three consecutive Sun Belt Conference championships from 2007–09. He later gained additional coaching experience with stops at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and East Mississippi Community College.
Pruitt earned his undergraduate degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in criminal law from Troy in 2006. He later earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Kentucky in 2015.
A native of Ellsworth, Kansas, Pruitt is married to the former Allison Farrington of Andalusia, Alabama. The couple has two children, a son, Cannon, and a daughter, Oakleigh.
