Madison on Boyd: ?Shane is a young man who possess outstanding talent and athleticism, both on the baseball diamond and the football field. The only thing lacking is his experience. He has a chance to be a big contributor to our staff this year.?

2002: Made one appearance as a sophomore… Only action of the season came in the Continental Express Aggie Baseball Classic hosted by Texas A&M… One of six pitchers to take the mound as UK surrendered eight runs in the eighth inning to fall 18-17 to Pepperdine at Texas A&M’s Olsen Field (2/24).

2001: Made four appearances as a freshman? First collegiate appearance came in relief duties at Wofford, throwing one inning of UK?s 15-11 win? One of six hurlers to see action in the Wildcats? 12-1 drubbing of Eastern Kentucky (3/7)? Threw two innings, striking out one batter in an 11-3 UK win over Tennessee-Martin (3/13)? Came to the mound once in SEC play, pitching two-thirds of an inning against Alabama (3/18)… Started five games and played in seven at quarterback for the Wildcats as a redshirt freshman… Completed 85 of 154 passes for 852 yards and four touchdowns… Gained 156 yards on 32 carries and rushed for three scores… Longest completion of the year was 38 yards to Ernest Simms in a 28-20 win over Ball State (9/8)… Completed 55.2 percent of his passes and compiled 1,008 yards total offense… Earned his first collegiate start against Ball State, completing 15 of 22 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns (9/8)… Completed 23 of 39 passes for 203 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions against Florida (9/22)… The Gator game marked his second consecutive 200-yard game and second straight game without a pick… Completed passes to 10 different receivers against Florida (9/22)… Rushed for 43 yards and two TDs against Ole Miss (9/29).

High School: A 13th round selection of the Minnesota Twins in the 2000 Major League Baseball amateur draft? Received the Frank Camp Award and Roy Kidd Award as the top football player in the Commonwealth of Kentucky? Also named the state player of the year in football by USA Today? Four-year letterman and three-year starter at quarterback for Henry Clay HS? Honor roll student at Henry Clay? Three-year letterman in baseball, playing shortstop and pitcher, and led Henry Clay to the regional finals? Governor?s Scholar nominee and named to the ?Blue Chip Student? list? Selected for Who?s Who Among American High School Students? Four-year letterman in basketball earning all-city honors.
