Wildcats Shine on Day Three of Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas – The Kentucky Wildcats totaled two event wins, eight top 10 program marks and nine qualifiers on day three of the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

The men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams kicked off the morning events for the Wildcats, both advancing to tomorrow’s final. The women’s team, consisting of Emmi Scales, Hannah Douglas, Stacey Onyepunuka and Sharmelle Holmes, finished with the fourth-best qualifying time at 44.20. On the men’s side, Coy Hyre, Miles Jones, Oscar Baltan Vivero and Denzel Simusialela placed seventh, posting the 10th-fasest time in UK history at 39.33.

In the Women’s 100m hurdles prelims, Emmi Scales led the way for the Wildcats, finishing atop the leaderboard and advancing to the final with a career-best, and new NCAA No. 1 time for 2026, time of 12.75, moving into fourth all-time at Kentucky.

Camden Bentley and Rukia Nusra Omulisia also qualified for tomorrow’s final, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Nusra Omulisia also improved her Kenya National Record time to 13.18 in just her second race of the season.

In the men’s half of the hurdles event, Anthony Waterman also improved his career-best time in the 110m hurdles prelims, placing third with a time of 13.57, moving him to fourth on Kentucky’s all-time list.

Meagan Ewers added the second event win of the day for the Wildcats in the women’s shot put event, as well as adding another program top 10 mark of 15.28m/50-01.25 to the results list in just her second career outdoor shot put event.

Denzel Simusialela and Miles Jones both advanced to the men’s 100m final in today’s prelim event. Jones’ and Simusialela’s times of 10.07 and 10.08 now both rank as the No. 2 and No. 3 times on the Kentucky all-time list, as well as the NCAA rankings for the 2026 season.

In the second section of relays on the day, the women’s 4x400m relay team, consisting of JahQueen McClellan, A’Laji Bradley, Cha’iel Johnson and Briana St. Louis, became the third Wildcat relay to qualify for the final with the second-fastest qualifying time of 3:35.41.

In the men’s long jump event, Kingi McNair became the third Wildcat to post a top 10 program mark, placing fifth with a personal-best distance of 7.65m/25-01.25, tying the sixth-best mark in school history.

In the third and final section of relays, the women’s SMR team placed third with a time of 3:45.84.

Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera closed out day three in Austin in the women’s 400m hurdles final, placing second, and for the second time in two days, moves up the all-time Kentucky leaderboard into fifth with a time of 55.45. That time also moves the Wildcat freshman into No. 2 in the NCAA and No. 3 in the world in 2026.

The final day of the Texas Relays will open tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET with Kate Powers competing in the women’s discus throw event.
