Wildcats Ready for 36 Holes at the Cardinal Classic on Monday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team added an event to its spring schedule this week in the Cardinal Classic. Five teams will compete across two rounds – 36 holes – at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday.
Live scoring will be available after each round is complete here.
Kentucky will compete alongside Cincinnati, Evansville, Illinois-Chicago and Louisville.
The Wildcats will turn in the same lineup it used in their most recent performance at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, including junior Cathryn Brown and sophomores Raleygh Simpson, Anastasia Hekkonen, Karlie Campbell and C.A. Carter. Samantha Paradise, a junior transfer from Daytona State College, will compete as an individual.
That lineup is coming off third place at the Valspar, going just 5-over across three rounds at the Forest Acres Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. An impressive four players finished in the top 20 there, including three in the top 15 and two in the top 10 (Brown, Carter).
Those five have competed alongside one another for most of the year – six of eight events this season. They have hauled in four finishes inside the top three, including two in the fall and two in the spring.
Funny enough, Hekkonen, Brown, Campbell and Carter each traded turns leading tournaments in each the team’s four fall events and four spring events – and in that same order – thus far this season.
The Cardinal Classic is the fifth of six regular-season events this spring leading up to the Southeastern Conference Championship at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, April 7-21.
