Collin Chandler Receives CSC Academic All-District Honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s basketball guard Collin Chandler has been chosen as a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Chandler, a sophomore, is working toward his degree in business administration with a specialization in finance. He was named to the Southeastern Conference First-Year Academic Honor Roll last year as a freshman.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors in the sport of men’s basketball, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grad point average, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have competed in at least 90 percent of the institution’s games or started in at least 66 percent.
On the court, Chandler had a breakout sophomore season averaging 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while finishing as the team’s leader in both 3-point field goals made (73) and 3-point field goal percentage (.410). He shot 45.7 percent from deep in SEC play, the top mark in the conference among players to make at least 42 triples vs. league foes.
Chandler has also been an active community member, reading to students at local elementary schools and volunteering with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Ronald McDonald House. Chandler was also a part of the UK men’s basketball team’s tornado relief efforts in London, Kentucky this past summer.
An Academic All-America sub-committee will be charged with examining each All-District candidate put forth for Academic All-America consideration. The Academic All-America team for men’s basketball will be announced on April 14.
