Kentucky Men’s Golf Set for Linger Longer Invitational
EATONTON, Ga. – Kentucky men’s golf tees off in the Linger Longer Invitational this Friday through Sunday at Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee (par 72, 7436 yards).
Kennesaw State will serve as the host for the 18-team field which features several Southeastern Conference schools including Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Participants will play 54 holes, with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day.
It will mark the first tournament for the Wildcats since their win at the Colleton River Collegiate earlier this month, the first victory for the program since 2018. There, Kentucky finished at 11-under par as a team, topping a 15-team field. Jack Schoenberger finished as the runner-up at 8-under par, while Cole Stockard also notched a top five finish with a 5-under total.
Schoenberger and Stockard will be back in the starting lineup for the Linger Longer, joined once again by Jacob Lang, Luke Coyle and Jacob Settles, the same starting five that UK has utilized in its first two events of the spring. Through six rounds this spring, the Kentucky lineup has posted a 281.33 (-2.67) scoring average. Schoenberger has led the way with a 69.33 stroke average this spring, shooting under par in five of six loops.
The Wildcats will also have two individuals competing this week as Gavin Clutts and Cameron Phillips are set to tee it up. Phillips has competed as an individual twice already this spring, while Clutts will be making his first appearance of the calendar year.
The Cats will be paired with Vanderbilt and South Alabama in round one with tee times from 9:15 a.m. to 9:51 a.m. on hole No. 1.
