Kentucky Sweeps Monday Doubleheader

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky (12-7, 3-4 SEC) swept a Monday doubleheader against Southern Indiana (4-7, 0-0 HL) inside the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex, winning by scores of 4-1 and 4-0.

In the first match of the day, Kentucky claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Mikael Arseneault and Matt Rankin were the first to finish, winning 6-1 at the second court. Martin Breysach and Charlelie Cosnet clinched the opening point on the top court, claiming the win via a pristine 6-0 score line.

In singles, No. 102 Nicolas Arseneault was the first Wildcat to score a point, defeating Axel Sabourin via a pair of 6-1 sets. No. 38 Jack Loutit put the Cats within one point of victory with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Mathys Bove on court three.

The Screaming Eagles scored their only point of the day at court two, as Aaron Dawson defeated Jaden Weekes, 6-2, 6-3. Mikael Arseneault delivered his team-leading fourth clinch of the season with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Jy Hibbert on court four.

In the second match, the Cats were once again able to clinch in two. Breysach and Cosnet saw similar levels of success, winning 6-1 on court one. Nicolas Arseneault and Jack Loutit claimed their first win as a pairing on court three, claiming the doubles point with a 6-3 victory.

The Wildcats breezed through singles action, with No. 77 Cosnet earning a 6-0, 6-3 win over Sabourin for the 2-0 advantage. Breysach earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kalani Hibbert on court six and No. 102 Nicolas Arseneault delivered the clinching blow with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Gibson on court one.

The Wildcats will return to Southeastern Conference action this weekend, traveling to No. 14 South Carolina on Friday before returning to Lexington to host No. 3 Texas on Sunday. Admission to all home matches at the Boone Tennis Complex is free to the public.
