Kentucky Sweeps Midweek Series With Eastern Kentucky

Ethan Hindle continued to terrorize Eastern Kentucky pitching, Luke Lawrence smacked the rare inside-the-park home run and No. 21 Kentucky swept its midweek home and home series over the Colonels with an 8-4 victory at Kentucky Proud Park on Wednesday.

UK (11-2) now has won six games in a row, including by a cumulative 18-4 over EKU the past two days.

Hindle, who homered and had an RBI double on Tuesday night in Richmond, added a two-run double and reached base four times, while Lawrence scored three runs and scored on a standing up two-run, inside-the-park homer to tie the game in the third inning and inject juice into the dugout.

It was mostly a business-like victory for the Cats with six pitchers tallying 10 strikeouts and catcher Tagger Tyson throwing out two potential base stealers in one inning. Nile Adcock, Leighton Harris and Ira Austin IV each struck out at least half the batters they faced with Harris and Austin punching out multiple batters in just one inning each of work.
