11 Wildcats Qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following an incredible performance last week at the SEC Championships, 11 Wildcats have earned a spot as a national qualifier for the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships next week in Fayetteville, Ark.
Emmi Scales highlights the list of NCAA qualifiers for the Wildcats, fresh off her gold medal win in the women’s 60m hurdles SEC final, along with three other individual qualifiers on the women’s side, including Hannah Douglas (400m), Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera (800m) and Kemarah Howard (High Jump), after winning her first career gold medal in College Station. The women’s 4x400m relay team, consisting of A’Laji Bradley, Douglas, Kerubo Nyagisera and Cha’iel Johnson, also reached the NCAA final as a national qualifier, posting the nation’s seventh-best time this season at 3:29.14.
On the men’s side, two Wildcats will make the trip to Fayetteville next week for the NCAA Championships, including SEC Men’s Triple Jump Champion Theo Mudzengerere and Denzel Simusialela in the men’s 200m, coming in at No. 7 in country with a time of 20.47.
Last week in College Station, the Wildcats totaled three gold medals, one silver medal and three bronze medals, along with a season-high 17 program top 10 marks.
Scales and Mudzengerere featured as the highlights on the final day for the Wildcats, both winning a gold medal in their respective events. Scales claimed her first career SEC Title in the women’s 60m hurdles final with a time of 7.85. Mudzengerere, in first season with the Wildcats, won gold in the men’s triple jump final, improving his career-best mark to 16.71m.
The 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. at the Randal Tyson Track will kick off on Friday, March 13. The meet will be streaming on ESPN+.
