Kemarah Howard Wins Gold, Seven Wildcats Advance to the Finals on Day Two of SEC Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – The Kentucky Wildcats completed day two of the 2026 SEC Indoor Championships today in College Station, Texas, combining for one gold medal, three SEC scorers, seven qualifiers and a season-high nine all-time top 10 marks.

Kate Powers and Meagan Ewers kicked off day at the SEC Championships with a pair of top eight finishes in the women’s weight throw final. Powers placed fifth with final mark of 21.43m and Ewers placed eighth with a 20.2m mark.

Standout freshman Kemarah Howard earned the first gold medal of this year’s championships in the women’s high jump final, clearing a final distance of 1.87m and improving her personal best, which also features as the UK freshman record and the second-best mark in program history.

Seven Wildcats qualified for the final in their respective events, including Doricah Minsari Isoe in the women’s mile, Sharmelle Holmes in the women’s 60m, A’Laji Bradley and Hannah Douglas in the women’s 400m during the early portion of the track events.

Along with each of the final qualifiers, nine Wildcats posted all-time program top 10 marks in their respective events, including TK Pahuwa and Tyrique Johnson in the men’s 400m with times of 46.49 and 46.82.

Later in the evening, Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera and Patrick Faust advanced to the women’s and men’s 800m finals, respectively, with times of 2:03.42 and 1:49.20.

In the women’s 60m hurdles prelims, Emmi Scales featured as the lone Wildcat to reach the final, placing third with a time of 7.92. Rukia Nusra Omulisia and Camden Bentley added to the all-time top 10 marks on the day, finishing 10th and 17th, respectively, with times of 8.13 and 8.19

In the men’s half of the 60m hurdles, Anthony Waterman ended day two with UK’s ninth program top 10 time of the day, placing 10th with a time of 7.75.

To close out the 2026 SEC Indoor Championships, Saturday’s events will start at 3:00 p.m. ET with the men’s high jump, followed by the men’s and women’s shot put, men’s pole vault and men’s triple jump. The final day in College Station will also feature each of the final rounds for each of the track events.
