Tonie Morgan Selected to the SEC Community Service Team
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Kentucky point guard Tonie Morgan has been selected to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.
Morgan is a natural leader on the court but is just as much a leader off the court. The point guard has signed up for just about every community service opportunity put in front of her this season, despite only being on campus and calling Lexington home for a short while.
And she does it all with a contagious smile and affectious energy.
While she is leading the nation and set the single-season school record in dimes this season, her best assists have come off the court.
During the Christmas break, Morgan dished out very, merry charitable gifts for kiddos in her hometown of Tallahassee, Florida.
The Wildcat gifted five local athletes $100 gift cards to Academy Sports to ease the burden of equipment expenses. She also donated $500 worth of winter coats to families in need, while she also donated to The Alexus House, a cause close to her heart.
Morgan also teamed up with Anthony Robinson, a Missouri men’s basketball player from Tallahassee, to give Florida High new scorers tables .
Moreover, this season, she helped bake treats for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass, visited with kiddos at Shriners Children’s Lexington, read a book and led a discussion through the REAL READ program at Northern Elementary School, helped facilitate a Special Olympics basketball camp, participated in a field day with kiddos through Big Brother Big Sister of the Bluegrass and sends letters through a pen pal program at Yates Elementary School.
