Wildcats Shoot Season-Best Score in Round Two at Watersound

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Kentucky men’s golf posted its best score of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, carding a 272 (-8) in round two of the Watersound Invitational to move into a tie for fourth place through 36 holes at Watersound Club’s Third Course (par 70, 7148 yards).

The team tally of 272 is the third lowest 18-hole score for Kentucky dating back to the 2001-02 season and betters their previous season-best effort of 274 which was set during the first round of the Visit Knox Collegiate. The Wildcats ended the day with the second-lowest score in the 12-team field, behind only Vanderbilt.

With 18 holes remaining, UK is level with Florida State at 7-under par for the tournament, while Vanderbilt leads at 20-under total.

Luke Coyle and Jacob Settles paced Kentucky on day two, each posting 4-under rounds of 66. Jack Schoenberger and Cameron Phillips joined their teammates with under-par efforts, with both players signing for 2-under, 68. Freshman Cole Stockard was a counting score with a card of 72 (+2), while Jacob Lang posted a 4-over par, 74.

Phillips, who is playing as an individual this week, stands tied for fifth at 5-under total after a bogey-free day. The freshman is five shots off the tournament’s individual leader, Ole Miss’ Daniel Tolf, heading into the final round but just one shot back of second place. He continues to lead the 78-player field in par-3 scoring this week at 2.70.

Coyle’s 66 matches the best round of his collegiate career, also achieved earlier this season at the Visit Knox Collegiate. The junior made five birdies to just a lone bogey and improved his first-round total by a whopping 11 shots.

Settles finds himself tied for 14th after his best career round as a UK starter. The sophomore collected five birdies on the day, including two over his final three holes. He is 5-under par on par 5s for the tournament, tied for the second-best mark in the field.

Schoenberger also birdied two of his final three holes on Tuesday and is tied for 10th on the leaderboard at 4-under total after signing for 68 for the second consecutive day. It was his seventh round at par-or-better this season.

Wednesday’s final round will begin with a 10 a.m. ET shotgun. Kentucky will be paired with Michigan State, Mississippi State and TCU.
