BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference Swimming & Diving Community Service Teams for 2025-26 included two Kentucky swimming student-athletes, Lily DeLong & John (JT) Broome, as announced on Monday.

The SEC sponsors Community Service teams for all 22 league sports, in which it looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

From Nicholasville, Ky., junior Lily DeLong has worked with Amachi, helping serve the youth of Lexington as a mentor. Her mentorship has included taking her mentee to church, making dinner with them, going to the trampoline park, and various other activities every week. DeLong has also served at a local church, where she aided packing food for the less fortunate and nannying children. She has helped at the Salvation Army, decorating cookies during the holidays. Active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), she travelled with FCA to Egypt and volunteered at three different sports camps. For her community service efforts, DeLong received the university’s CATSPY award for Community Service in 2025. She was named to the 2023-24 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll and the 2024-25 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll.

A senior captain from Greer, S.C., Broome has served the Lexington community in a variety of ways throughout the year. He has worked with several local affiliations, including the Salvation Army, Sunrise Children’s Services, Operation Christmas Child, God’s Pantry and Big Brothers Big Sisters. For the past two years, Broome has helped with the student-athlete orientation process as a leader and mentor for “My New Kentucky Home.” He also has served as a swimming and diving representative for Kentucky’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He was twice named to the Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll as well as the 2022-23 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll. Broome also earned a spot on the 2024 CSC Academic All-District Team. He received the Booster Award at the team banquet for the past two seasons, along with the team’s Bob Bradley Scholarship.

These two hope to continue to be involved in the community, while also standing out competitively in the pool. Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving team will spend the rest of the week in Knoxville, Tenn. competing for the SEC Championship. Results, streaming, and more can be found here.
