Katherine Truitt and Sinan Solmaz to Represent Kentucky at SEC SAAC Meetings

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Katherine Truitt and Sinan Solmaz have been selected represent the University of Kentucky at the 2026 SEC Student Athlete Advisory Committee meetings at the Southeastern Conference offices in Birmingham, Ala. from Feb. 6-7.

Per the league office, the meetings will serve as an opportunity for the student-athletes to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff. Along with Student-Athlete Leadership Councils for football and men’s and women’s basketball, SAAC provides a conduit of communication to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness and playing rules.

Agenda items for the SEC SAAC meeting include a conversation with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, a presentation from guest speaker Lauren Sisler, updates from NCAA SAAC, a review of NCAA & SEC Governance Structure & Legislation and SEC Start Up opportunities, and a discussion on SAAC campus programming.

Truitt recently completed her redshirt sophomore season with the Wildcats, helping Kentucky advance to the program’s second consecutive NCAA Tournament. In her two seasons of play, Truitt has started every match for the Wildcats at center back and combined for over 3,500 minutes played, the most on the team in both 2024 and 2025. In 2025, Truitt scored the first goals of her collegiate career, scoring her first tally against No. 25 Alabama and adding her first career game-winning goal in the program’s first victory over Texas A&M.

Solmaz, in his first year with the Wildcats, appeared and started in 16 matches during the 2025 season, finishing the season with the team’s fourth-highest minute tally with 1,319. The German-international scored the second goal of his collegiate career in a 3-2 win over UCF on Sept. 19, in route to program’s second regular season Sun Belt title since joining the conference in 2022. Solmaz served as an anchor of the Wildcats’ defensive backline, resulting in UK allowing the second-fewest goals in the SBC last season at 19 and tying the conference lead in clean sheets with eight.
