LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s tennis team kicked off its 2026 campaign at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex on Wednesday, sweeping Dayton in a doubleheader 6-1 in match one and 4-0 in match two. The Wildcats dominated the courts, winning every set in singles play across both matches.

Wednesday’s action commenced with doubles play, with Dayton taking the opening flight. No. 69 Jack Loutit and Eli Stephenson claimed a 6-2 win on court No. 2, but the Flyers took home identical 6-3 victories on courts No. 1 and No. 3 to claim a 1-0 lead in the dual.

In singles play, the Wildcats raced out to the advantage, winning all four first sets of the opening flight. Jaden Weekes was the first Wildcat to earn a singles win, cruising to a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court three. No. 19 Stephenson picked up his first ranked win of the spring, and sixth of the 2025-26 season, cruising past No. 86 Mikkel Zinder, 6-3, 6-2. Antoine Ghibaudo earned his first win of the season at the No. 1 singles position to deliver the clinching blow, taking home a 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory over A-10 Most Outstanding Player Kyle McNally. Mikael Arseneault and Matt Rankin each out played their matches with both dominating their courts to seal the 6-1 win.

After the intermission, the Wildcats returned to the court without missing a beat, continuing their opening day domination to secure the first doubles point of the season. Weekes and Nicolas Arseneault took the first victory with a 6-1 win on court three. Moments later, All-Americans Loutit and Stephenson followed suit with their first ranked win of the season, taking down No. 79 McNally and Dylan Jaen, 6-3, to clinch the opening session.

Kentucky would continue its singles success, sweeping all three matches. No. 26 Jack Loutit brought home the first win, 6-1, 6-1 on court No. 2, followed by a Martin Breysach 6-2, 6-1 win at court No. 6. Freshman Nicolas Arseneault, making his home debut, delivered the clinching point for the Cats, taking court No. 1 in a 6-3, 6-1 scoreline.

The Wildcats will make a quick turnaround and return to the court on Sunday, at the Hillary J. Boone Tennis Complex against No. 20 Michigan State. The Wildcats’ match against the Spartans will begin at 1 p.m. ET. Admission is free to the public and free pizza will be available while supplies last.
