Lions head coach Danielle Santos Atkinson was an assistant on the Wildcats’ staff for two seasons in 2012-13 and 2013-14. The Wildcats advanced to the Sweet 16 her first year and followed that up with an Elite Eight appearance in her second go-around.
Atkinson and Kentucky assistant coach Josh Petersen also have familiarity, overlapping one season on staff together at Florida State (2013-14) and another season on staff together at Pittsburgh (2018-19).
