Meet the Head Coaches

About Coach Golda Borst

Golda Borst enters her 16th season as head coach of Kentucky women’s golf in 2025–26 and has guided the program to sustained success. Under her leadership, Kentucky has earned 10 NCAA Regional team appearances, eight team championships, and a breakthrough NCAA Championship finals berth in 2021, the program’s first since 1992.

In 2024–25, Borst led a young roster featuring four freshmen and two sophomores to a 291.3 scoring average, the fifth-best in school history. The Wildcats earned two top-five finishes, including second place at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. Senior Marta López Echevarría posted a career-best 72.8 scoring average and competed individually at the NCAA Regional at Champion Trace. Two Wildcats also earned SEC weekly honors.

In 2023–24, Borst coached one of the most decorated teams in school history, featuring future professionals Jensen Castle, Laney Frye, María Villanueva Aperribay, and Marissa Wenzler. That group recorded the second-best single-season scoring average in program history, finished fifth in SEC stroke play to advance to match play for the first time, and reached the NCAA Regional for the fourth straight year.

Her 2022–23 team set 11 school records, won two tournaments, and added a medalist honor. Kentucky won back-to-back titles at the Illini Women’s Invitational and the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational, highlighted by a school-record 34-under-par performance.

Since her arrival in 2010–11, Borst’s teams have rewritten the Kentucky record book, producing the program’s top single-season scoring averages, top individual scoring seasons, and top tournament totals. Academically, her teams have earned 46 WGCA Scholar All-America honors and eight straight NCAA APR awards, including a UK Athletics–record 3.922 team GPA in Fall 2024.

Before Kentucky, Borst spent three seasons as an assistant coach at LSU, helping the Tigers reach three NCAA Regionals and finish 12th at the 2009 NCAA Championship. She played at Tennessee, earning All-SEC Second Team honors and helping the Lady Vols reach the NCAA Championship finals three straight years. A native of Visby, Sweden, she also competed for the Swedish National Team from 1999 to 2003.

Borst is married to Steve Borst, and they have two daughters, Lillian and Elsa.

About Coach Gator Todd

Gator Todd finished his second season as Kentucky men’s golf head coach in 2024–25, guiding a young roster that featured three freshmen in the starting lineup. His Wildcats surged during the spring and earned three straight top-five finishes, including a runner-up result at the Mountaineer Invitational, which was the program’s best finish since 2021. Kentucky also posted a 12-under 840 at the Mason Rudolph Championship, its lowest tournament score since 2021, and it was the first time under Todd that the team shot under par in all three rounds.

In his first season, Todd led Kentucky to 11th at the SEC Championship, which was the team’s best finish at the event since 2021, and top-five results at both the Blessings Collegiate and the Steelwood Collegiate. He also coached Alex Goff to one of the strongest individual seasons in school history. Goff earned All-America honors, set a program-best 70.55 scoring average, was named SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year, and appeared on the Haskins and Hogan Award watch lists.

Before coming to Kentucky, Todd spent six seasons at Vanderbilt and helped the Commodores achieve four top-ten finishes at the NCAA Championships. He also contributed to the program’s first two NCAA Regional titles, two SEC championships, and 22 tournament wins. During his time at Vanderbilt, the program produced 18 All-Americans, four SEC Players of the Year, and several national award finalists, including NCAA champion Gordon Sargent.

From 2010 to 2015, Todd competed in more than 75 professional events around the world and earned 17 top-ten finishes. In 2011 he advanced to the final stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School and secured conditional status on the Nationwide Tour for the 2012 season. As a collegiate player at Alabama, he was a first-team All-SEC selection, played in three NCAA Championships, and helped the Crimson Tide win the 2008 SEC title and earn the first number one season-ending national ranking in program history.

Todd is a native of Florence, Alabama. He is married to Mary Katherine, and they have one daughter, Sylvie.

FAQ

I’m having trouble registering online. Can I call the golf office to register over the phone?

Unfortunately, no. Registrations cannot be taken over the phone or in person. All camp registrations must be completed online and paid for with a credit card. If you experience any issues during registration, please contact Julie Hovland at Julie.hovland@uky.edu for assistance.

I need to cancel my registration; can I get a refund?

If you need to cancel your registration, please email Julie.hovland@uky.edy to request a refund.  Refunds that are approved will be less a $30 administrative fee.  You can request a credit (for full amount) towards a future camp by emailing the email address mentioned above.

Does my physical form have to be on the form provided, because I have a physical, but it’s on a different form?

No. You do not have to use the specific medical form provided. As long as your existing physical form states that you are medically cleared to participate in the camp, is signed by a licensed medical doctor, and is less than 12 months old, it will be accepted.

My childs’ physical expires right before the camp, but I don’t have an appointment to get a new physical until after the camp, and my insurance won’t allow me to get a physical any sooner, what should I do?

Start by calling your doctor’s office and explaining the situation; they can often accommodate special circumstances. Physicals are also available at The Little Clinics at Kroger for $35 (without needing insurance approval). Additionally, contact your insurance provider to ask whether they allow a physical slightly before the 12-month mark, many plans offer a grace period.

What do we need to bring with us to camp?

Each camper should bring golf equipment, including sneakers AND golf shoes, golf clubs, golf bag, golf balls.

Will the campers be fed during camp?

Yes, campers will be provided with lunch during the camp.

Are parents allowed to stay and watch?

Parents are welcome say hello at the registration and come to the Q&A at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, but we ask due to limited space in the golf house, that parents do not stay for the duration of the camp.
