Big Blue Preview: No. 20/18 Kentucky Women’s Basketball Plays at No. 21/19 Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 20/18 University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play at No. 21/19 Louisville at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. ET.
It is the third of five true road games – and the third of seven away games – this nonconference season.
The last time the program played three true road games in the first seven games of the season was 2013-14. That team got off to a 7-0 start in that stretch, including road triumphs at Marist, Wagner and Middle Tennessee.

Darren Headrick will have the radio call for UK Sports Network in 2025-26, his ninth straight season as the voice of the Wildcats. His Kentucky-Louisville call will be carried on 98.5 FM ICONS in Lexington and on 1080 AM TalkRadio in Louisville. It also will be carried on the SiriusXM App.

The Wildcats enter the game 6-0, including 2-0 in true road games. The Cats have had a strong start to the season as they enter their first power conference and ranked contest of the season Saturday.
UK has scored at least 75 points through all six games this season for the first time since 2013-14 (first seven). UK also has won each game by at least 16 points, while it has won the last five straight games by at least 32 points.
In fact, Kentucky has had an impressive last five games, also holding each of those opponents to under 50 points, a stretch that hasn’t been achieved since 2006-07 (also five straight). Kentucky also has held each of those opponents to under 30.0 percent shooting from the field.
Going into the in-state rivalry game, UK is first in the nation in blocks per game (10.0), scoring defense (43.5) and field-goal percentage defense (26.9%). UK point guard Tonie Morgan is second in the nation in assists per game (9.2), while UK center Clara Strack is first in the nation in double-doubles (5), sixth in the nation in blocks per game (3.3) and seventh in the nation in rebounds per game (7).
The team is also averaging 10.0 3-pointers per game, a stat that leads the Southeastern Conference and is 10th in the country, and 18.7 assist per game and 46.7 rebounds per game.
In true road games so far this season, the Wildcats have defeated Buffalo (+34) and Marshall (+32). It is the first time Kentucky has held consecutive true road opponents by at least 30 points since 1999-00.
Saturday’s game will mark the 61st meeting between UK and UofL. Kentucky leads the all-time meetings with Louisville, 35-25, in a series that dates back to Dec. 15, 1975. UK won the last matchup, 71-61, in overtime on Nov. 16, 2024, in Lexington.
It’s been a series of streaks of late, with UofL winning the prior seven straight meetings (2016-23) and then UK winning the five straight meetings before that (2011-15).
Kentucky and Louisville have played at least once every season except for the covid-affected season in 2020-21.
The Wildcats trail the Cardinals in games played in Louisville, 17-11. The last time the Cats won in Louisville was on Dec. 7, 2014 (77-68).
