Men’s Tennis Inks Two During November Signing Period

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s tennis added two top 100 junior players to its Class of 2026, head coach Cedric Kauffmann announced Thursday. Canada’s Volodymyr Gurenko and Norway’s Oscar Lien both signed agreements to join the Cats for the 2026-27 season. Both signees are the No. 1 ranked junior player in their respective countries.

Gurenko, a native of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, holds a career high ITF Junior Ranking of No. 92 from July of 2025. Gurenko has won six ITF Junior singles titles, including three in 2025, and has also captured six ITF Junior doubles titles, featuring a pair this season. Domestically, Gurenko helped Team Quebec to a silver medal at the 2025 Canada Games and won the 2025 Canada U18 Boys’ Doubles National Championship.

Lien hails from Oslo, Norway and recently achieved his career high ITF Junior Rankin of No. 52 earlier this month. The top Norwegian in the rankings, Lien has won four of his five career ITF Junior Singles titles this season—with three at the J100 level and one at the J300 level. The Norwegian also boasts three career ITF Junior doubles titles, including a J200 earlier this year. Lien earned entry into the 2025 US Open Junior Boys’ Championship, qualifying for the main draw in singles and reaching the round of 16 in doubles. Domestically, Lien won the 2025 Norwegian U19 Singles title.
