Kentucky Cross Country Travels to Columbia for Pre-National Invitational on Friday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats cross country team is set for the fourth race of the 2025 season tomorrow in the first of two trips to Columbia, Mo. at the Pre-National Invitational at the Gans Creek XC Course.

Th event, originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, was moved up a day to Friday, Oct. 17 due to expected inclement weather this weekend in the Columbia area.

After placing second and third in both the men’s and women’s races in the two opening events of the season, the Wildcats finished fourth in the women’s 6k race with 127 total points and fifth in the men’s 8k with 147 points in their most recent outing at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla.

In her first career race, freshman Doricah Minsari Isoe highlighted the Cats finish in Stillwater in the women’s 6k, placing 10th with a 20:42.2 time. Senior Ally Kruger and sophomore Janet Jepkemboi Amimo, who both finished inside the top 10 at the Tennessee XC Invitational and Southern Showcase to begin the season, placed 16th and 29th, respectively, with times of 20:54.9 and 21:23.4. Lyric Olson and Ava Hendren would round out the top five finishers for the Wildcats, placing 44th and 48th.

In the men’s 8k, Collins Kiprop Kipngok and Ed Bird finished atop the team leaderboard, 12th and 13th overall, with times of 24:05.1 and 24:05.2. After finishing 14th in his first collegiate race at the Southern Showcase on Sept. 12, freshman Levi Kipkurui Bachi placed 32nd with a mark of 24:29.5.

The Pre-National Invitational in Columbia, Mo. is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning with the women’s 6k at 11 a.m. ET, followed by the men’s 8k at 11:45 a.m. ET.
