Freshman Miller Ready to Make Bigger Impact

When Kentucky was last on the football field, the Cats saw a freshman show flashes of brilliance while getting his first opportunity to get significant playing time.

Cam Miller, a true freshman wide receiver from Camden, New Jersey, caught three passes for 41 yards against Georgia, showing the talent that made him a four-star recruit in the 2025 class.

Following Tuesday’s practice, UK offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan talked about Miller’s performance against the Bulldogs.

“I think Cam, when he went in there against Georgia and did the things he did,” Hamdan said. “We talk about those things that you can’t teach and for a guy to go into that moment. He’s a guy who got here in July. It wasn’t an early enrollee and for him to go out there and play fast and make plays. He was going after the ball and making plays. And so, we need to keep building on that.”

When the UK staff was evaluating Miller during the recruiting process, Hamdan said there were definitely some superlatives that jumped off the film.

“I think, number one, when we evaluated him, he was really great with the ball in his hands,” Hamdan said. “He was constantly making guys miss. We talk about how do you create explosive plays and that being one of them. High percentage throws but when you get the ball to somebody, they do something with it. And I think he showed that time and time again on his film.”

Hamdan also found out that Miller is much more than just a talented playmaker.

“He’s a really rare human being. He’s probably one of the coolest kids we’ve had the opportunity to coach,” Hamdan said. “He’s appreciative to be here, he’s got a great attitude. It’s that mixture of player and person where, when you get that, some of your better players are better people.”

Kentucky quarterback Cutter Boley knows that Miller had a lot to catch up on since he didn’t arrive on campus until this summer. The UK signal caller has seen Miller’s hard work and development.

“He’s going to go out there and give it his all,” Boley said. “He’s going to lay it all out there. He’s going to do everything he can to get that ball out of the air. And he’s making a lot of strides in practice. He came in right before fall camp, so that’s a quick turnaround to learn the offense, but he’s really coming along and I’m super proud of him.”

Miller was a bright spot against Georgia and the UK staff is looking forward to incorporating him even more as the season moves forward.
