Game Day Central: Kentucky at Georgia

Pregame

1st Quarter

Georgia got the game’s first possession and the Bulldogs made the most of it. Georgia went 75 yards in 12 plays, ending with a Gunner Stockton touchdown rush from seven yards out. Peyton Woodring added the extra point and the Bulldogs led 7-0 with 8:51 left in the first quarter.

Kentucky was able to get a first down on its first possession on a pair of rushes by McGowan. However, the Cats were forced to punt and Aidan Laros boomed one 55 yards, pinning the Bulldogs inside their own five.

The Bulldogs started on their own four yard line, but they were able to get out of trouble quickly. In fact, Georgia would march 96 yards in 13 plays, ending with a six-yard touchdown run by Stockton. Woodring made the PAT and Georgia led 14-0 near the end of the first quarter.

2nd Quarter

The Cats got a big play when Boley hit Kendrick Law for a 38-yard gain, getting UK into Georgia territory. On the second play of the second quarter, Boley hit Josh Kattus over the middle and the tight end took it to the house for a 29-yard touchdown. Jacob Kauwe added the point after and UK cut the Georgia lead to 14-7 with 14:21 left in the half.

Georgia was moving the ball on its next drive before Jordan Lovett intercepted Stockton and returned it to the UK 28 yard line. However, the Cats were unable to do anything with the possession and would punt. Georgia took over at its own 19 with 11:09 left in the half.

The Bulldogs would be unable to do anything with the ensuing possession and punted it away, pinning Kentucky at its own one yard line. UK would punt the ball back and Georgia took over at the UK 40.

Georgia would take advantage of the good field position. The Bulldogs covered the 40 yards in six plays, ending with a three-yard touchdown run by Dillon Bell. Woodring added the PAT and Georgia led 21-7 with 2:45 left in the half.

Kentucky drove down the field, getting into the red zone just before the end of the half. Kauwe came on for a field goal, but it missed wide left and the half ended with Georgia leading 21-7.

3rd Quarter

In the third quarter, Kentucky got the ball first. On the fourth play of the drive, McGowan fumbled and Georgia recovered, taking over in UK territory. The Bulldogs took advantage again, covering 38 yards in five plays, ending with a three-yard touchdown run by Bell. Woodring made the PAT and Georgia led 28-7. The Bulldogs added another score and led 35-7 after three quarters.

4th Quarter

In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs appeared to be ready to add to the lead. But on a fourth down play inside the red zone, the UK defense stopped Georgia and took over on downs.
