Wildcats Look to Continue Home Unbeaten Streak, Face Bowling Green in Sunday Matinee
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats (3-0-1) are set to continue a five-match homestand with a non-conference meeting against the Bowling Green Falcons (2-2-1) on Sunday afternoon at The Bell.
Dating back to last season, the Wildcats currently hold a home match unbeaten streak of eight games, with a 4-0-4 record during that stretch, coming off the 4-0 win over Detroit Mercy Tuesday night.
The Wildcats earned their third win in four games thus far this season over Detroit Mercy thanks to a hat-trick from midfielder Alex Ruiz, the 14th hat-trick in program history. Ruiz also leads Kentucky in goals, points, shots and shots on goal, currently with a share of second in the NCAA with five goals.
The Spanish-International also recorded his second multi-goal performance through the first four games of his Wildcat career. In his first appearance against Western Michigan in the season opener, he became the first player in program history to score two goals in his first career appearance for UK.
Kentucky dominated on both the scoreboard and the stat sheet, outshooting Detroit Mercy 19-5, including a 14-1 advantage in shots on target. Goalkeeper Sebastian Conlon was only required to make one save on the night to highlight an impressive performance from the Wildcats’ backline, which has only allowed one goal through four games.
Bowling Green travels to Lexington on the heels of a 1-0 victory over the Michigan State Spartans in just their second home outing of the 2025 season.
Senior forward Trace Terry currently leads the Falcons in the scoring department with three goals and six points through the opening five games, including the winner against the Spartans in the fifth minute. Goalkeeper Enzo Gil has recorded 32 saves, including a season-high eight in a 1-0 loss to Butler, which ranks second in the NCAA, just one save off the national lead.
Sunday’s matchup will mark the 23rd meeting between Kentucky and Bowling Green, with the Wildcats boasting a 13-8-1 all-time record against the Falcons, most recently earning a 2-0 win back in 2019.
Kentucky vs. Bowling Green is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET, streaming on ESPN+. The theme for tomorrow’s match is youth soccer day, as all area youth soccer teams are invited to come out to The Bell. Admission to all 2025 Kentucky soccer home matches is free to all fans.
