Kentucky Cross Country Set for Southern Showcase

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats are set for their second race of the 2025 season tomorrow at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala., hosted by Jacksonville State University.

The Wildcats are coming off a second and third place finish at the Tennessee Cross Country Invitational in the season opener in Knoxville, Tenn. Sophomore Janet Jepkemboi Amimo highlighted the Wildcats’ performance with a second-place finish and a 16:39.95 time. Senior Ally Kruger finished third with a mark of 16:48.48, followed by Lyric Olson and Ava Hendren also finishing inside the top 10 in eighth and 10th, respectively.

On the men’s side, Kentucky placed third with 65 total points, highlighted by senior Alex Alston placing 13th with a time of 20:20.57. Newcomer Eyan Turk, Miles Brush, Caden Miracle, Lincoln Herald and Anthony Anania would round out the leaderboard for the Cats.

This week, the Cats will compete against fellow SEC programs Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State, as well as in-state programs Cumberlands, Louisville and Western Kentucky.

The Southern Showcase will begin with the men’s 8k race at 8:30 a.m. ET, followed by the women’s 5k event at 9:30 a.m. ET.
