Kentucky Hosts No. 20 Ohio State in Sunday Showdown
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky (6-1-0) is set to close its non-conference schedule with its toughest test to date, hosting No. 20 Ohio State (3-1-1) at The Bell on Sunday, September 7 at 1 p.m. ET. The match will be televised nationally on ESPNU with Mike Watts and Marion Crowder on the call. Admission to Sunday’s match is free to the public and there will be a thundersticks giveaway for fans in attendance.
The Wildcats bounced back after their first loss of the season with a 3-0 win over Mercyhurst on Thursday, scoring all three goals from set pieces. Kentucky’s attack of Alexis Tylenda, Catherine Rapp, and Anna Sikorski all rank in the top four in the SEC point-scoring table this year. Additionally, Tylenda leads the league in goals and points, and Tanner Strickland leads the conference in assists.
Kentucky took 18 corner kicks on Thursday, moving its season total to 85 and its NCAA-leading corner kicks per game average to 12.14 tries per match. The Cats also rank in the nation’s top ten in goal differential, goals scored, points, and shots per game.
Ohio State comes to Lexington on a three-match win streak, most recently defeating Ashland in Columbus last Sunday. The Buckeyes are making their second trip to an SEC school after taking their only loss to date—a 1-0 defeat—at South Carolina on August 21.
This will be the first meeting between the two border rivals since the 2013 NCAA Tournament, a 3-1 Kentucky victory in Lexington.
Kentucky will close its season-opening nine-match homestand on Friday, September 12, hosting No. 19 Oklahoma for its SEC opener. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network +. Admission to all 2025 Kentucky Soccer regular season home matches will be free to the public.
