Jacob Lang, Luke Coyle Tied for 16th Entering Final Round at Visit Knox Collegiate

LOUDON, Tenn. – Kentucky men’s golf shot 288 (+8) on a rainy Saturday at Tennessee National Golf Club (par 70, 7,201 yards), leaving the Wildcats tied for sixth place through 36 holes at the Visit Knox Collegiate.

UK is 2-over par as a team for the tournament and will enter Sunday’s final round tied with Iowa for sixth in the 16-team field. Tennessee, the host school this week, continues to lead the way at 20-under par.

Two Wildcats are inside the top 20 individually as sophomore Jacob Lang and junior transfer Luke Coyle are each tied for 16th at 2-under par.

Lang had the low round of the day for Kentucky with an even-par score of 70. The Alvaton, Ky. native made six birdies on the day, including two on his final three holes, to overcome a triple-bogey on No. 7 (par 4, 465 yards) and a double-bogey on No. 15 (Par 4, 439 yards). He has made 10 birdies on the week thus far, tied for the fourth most in the 90-player field.

Coyle, who opened with a 66 yesterday in his first round as a Wildcat, followed up that effort with a 72 (+2) on Saturday to remain inside the top 20. Both Lang and Coyle are five shots off the individual co-leaders, Chase Cline of Charlotte and Bruce Murphy of Tennessee.

Jack Schoenberger finds himself tied for 42nd at 2-over par total after signing for a second round of 72. Sophomore Jacob Settles was UK’s fourth counting score with a 74 (+4), while freshman Cole Stockard dropped into a tie for 62nd after posting a 76 (+6).

Individual Charles Cauthen heated up on his inward nine, going 2-under over his final nine holes to finish with a round of 73 (+3). He is tied for 70th at 8-over par for the tournament, alongside Settles.

The Wildcats will play with LSU and Charlotte for Sunday’s final round with tee times from 11:26 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Live scoring can be found at scoreboard.clippd.com.
