Kentucky vs. Nebraska Earns Record 1.2 Million Viewers on Sunday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky vs. Nebraska volleyball match played Sunday, August 31 earned a new record 1.2 million viewers and is now the most-watched regular season volleyball match of all-time on the ESPN Family of Networks, the Walt Disney Co. announced.
Kentucky and top-ranked Nebraska played a five-set thriller with UK capturing the first two sets as part of the first-ever Broadway Block Party in Nashville, Tennessee’s Bridgestone Arena in downtown Music City. The event drew over 11,000 fans to Nashville with the attendance of 11,200 coming as the highest-attended volleyball match in Kentucky Volleyball history.
The match was the only scheduled regular-season match on ABC for 2025 until the National Championship match on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 3 p.m. ET on the network. Kentucky will play on FOX this Friday night as it travels to No. 5 Penn State for an 8 p.m. ET match versus the defending national champion Nittany Lions inside Rec Hall. UK is featured on four ESPN matches this season, including showdowns with No. 3 Pittsburgh on Wednesday night, Texas, Florida and LSU once Southeastern Conference play starts.
UK is off to State College, Pennsylvania this weekend for a two-match tournament hosted by Penn State where UK will play PSU on Friday and then a neutral-site match with New Hampshire on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET on BTN Plus.
