Kentucky Opens Final Non-Conference Weekend Against Mercyhurst
LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time in 2025, Kentucky (5-1-0) looks to bounce back from defeat, welcoming Mercyhurst (0-4-1) to The Bell to open the final weekend of non-conference play. The Wildcats and Lakers will play at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, September 4 with admission free to the public. The match will also be streamed live on SEC Network + with Josh Braun and Gretchen Mills on the call.
The Wildcats return to the pitch for the first time since Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Illinois, the first home loss for Kentucky since October 2023. The match was also the first regular season non-conference loss at home in the Troy Fabiano era.
The Kentucky offense continues to steal the show, with the Cats leading the nation in corner kicks per game while also leading the SEC in shots, goals scored, and points. Tanner Strickland is leading the SEC with five assists through six matches, while Cat Rapp is also a league leader with 15 points.
Thursday’s match will be the first meeting between Kentucky and Mercyhurst.
The Wildcats will close the non-conference portion of the schedule on Sunday, hosting No. 20 Ohio State at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 7. The match will be televised nationally on ESPNU. Admission to all 2025 Kentucky Soccer regular season home matches will be free to the public.
