Wildcats Kickoff 2025 Cross Country Season at Tennessee XC Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – With the first week of the 2025 NCAA cross country season finally upon us, the Kentucky Wildcats are set to compete in their season opener in Knoxville, Tenn. at the Tennessee XC Invitational at the UT XC Course at Cherokee Farm.

In the opening race of the season, the Wildcats will compete against host Tennessee and SEC rival Alabama.

Earlier this week, the SEC released its annual preseason coaches poll for both the men’s and women’s rankings. The Wildcats were voted to finish ninth out of 14th teams on the men’s side of the poll with 118 total points and the women’s team was voted 15th with 189 total points.

Last season, Kentucky finished 10th and 15th, respectively, in the men’s 8k and women’s 6k races at the 2024 SEC Cross Country Championships in College Station, Texas. In just his first collegiate season, Collins Kiprop Kipngok qualified individually for the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wisc., where he finished 187th in the men’s 10k.

The Tennessee XC Invitational is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. ET tomorrow morning with the men’s 4-mile race, followed by the women’s 3-mile race at 8:45 a.m. ET.
