Wildcats Return to Pitch Thursday, Square Off With ETSU
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a dominant opening weekend of play, Kentucky (2-0-0) will return to their home pitch at the Bell Soccer Complex on Thursday night, hosting ETSU (1-0-1) at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be streamed live on SEC Network + with Josh Braun and former Wildcat Gretchen Mills on the call.
Admission to Thursday’s match—and all regular season home contests—is free to the public. The match will also serve as a K Week Student Tailgate, welcoming back students to campus as they prepare for the resumption of classes on Monday. Free vuvuzelas will be distributed at the gate and fans are encouraged to wear blue.
The Wildcats begin their second week of regular season competition after dismantling Jackson State, 4-0, in the season opener last Thursday and breezing past West Georgia, 7-0, on Senior Day last Sunday. Alexis Tylenda led the Cats with three goals score during the first two matches, ranking her inside the nation’s top ten in total goals and total points. Anna Sikorksi and Thalia Morisi are close behind with two goals each, while Tanner Strickland and Catherine Rapp each boast two assists.
Although a small sample size, the Kentucky offense from the first week leads the Southeastern Conference in both total shots (53) and total goals (9). On the other end of the field, the Wildcats have suffocated their opponents, dominating possession at a near 70/30 split and only allowing one shot across two matches.
ETSU is making the trip to Lexington for the first-ever meeting between the programs. The Buccaneers completed their first week of play with a 1-0 win at North Alabama and a 1-1 home draw to UAB. Reagan Fitzgerald leads the Bucs, scoring both of their goals and earning SoCon Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The Wildcats will continue their season-opening nine-match homestand on Sunday, August 24, welcoming Detroit Mercy to the Bell for a 1 p.m. ET contest on the SEC Network +. Admission to all 2025 Kentucky Soccer regular season home matches will be free to the public.
