Wildcats, Cardinals to Square Off Nov. 22 in Louisville

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The date has been set for the annual meeting between Kentucky’s and Louisville’s women’s basketball teams, it was announced by both programs Tuesday. The two teams will meet for the 61st time in the all-time series Saturday, Nov. 22 at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

UK is still expected to add one more game to complete its nonconference schedule.

The Wildcats defeated the Cardinals, 71-61, in overtime in front of a sold-out crowd in Historic Memorial Coliseum last season, their first triumph over the in-state foe in eight meetings since 2015.

It marked UK’s largest margin of victory in 32 overtime wins in program history. It also marked UK’s first ranked win since defeating No. 1/1 South Carolina, 64-62, to win the 2022 Southeastern Conference Championship on March 6, 2022.

For the first time that season, UK won from behind. UK trailed UofL by three points at halftime and by as many as seven points in both the first half and the second half. UK outscored UofL by 17 points in the final 16 minutes of the game (32-15).

UK held UofL without a field goal in overtime and outscored UofL, 13-3, in overtime.

Returners Teonni Key (17 points) and Clara Strack (12 points) scored in double digits, each adding nine rebounds. Returner Amelia Hassett added nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Wildcats lead the Cardinals in the all-time series, 35-25, while they trail at Louisville,17-11.
